Welcome to Susie! Your privacy is a top priority for us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our Services. It’s important to us that you feel safe and informed, so please read this carefully.

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

To operate our Services and provide you with a personalized experience, we need to collect certain information. This information falls into three categories:

A. Information You Provide to Us

Account Creation: When you create an account, we collect basic information like your name, email address, date of birth, and gender.
Profile Information: You choose to provide us with information for your public profile, such as your photos, interests, bio, and other descriptive details. Some of this information may be considered “special” or “sensitive” in certain jurisdictions (e.g., your religious beliefs or ethnic origin). By choosing to provide this information, you consent to our processing of it.
AI Feature Information: To use our AI-powered features, you provide specific data:
- Photographs for Offspring Prediction: We process the photographs you upload for the explicit purpose of generating hypothetical visual projections. This involves analyzing facial features.
- Personality & Compatibility Data: We collect your answers to our personality quizzes and questionnaires (e.g., MBTI-style assessments) to generate compatibility insights.
Communications: If you contact our Customer Service team, we collect the information you give us during the interaction.

B. Information We Collect Automatically

Usage Information: We collect information about your activity on our Services, such as how you use them (e.g., date and time you logged in, features you’ve been using, your swipes, clicks) and how you interact with other users (e.g., users you connect and interact with).
Device Information: We collect information from and about the device(s) you use to access our Services, including hardware and software information such as IP address, device ID and type, and browser type.
Location Information: With your permission, we collect your precise geolocation (latitude and longitude) through various means, depending on the service and device you’re using, including GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections. If you decline permission for precise geolocation, we will not collect it, but the app’s functionality may be limited.

C. Face Photo Data

Susie collects a single face photograph from each user during the onboarding process. This photograph is captured using your device’s front-facing camera when you explicitly choose to take a photo. We collect a standard JPEG photograph—we do NOT collect biometric face data, Face ID data, facial geometry, face mesh data, or facial recognition templates.

Collection of Face Data

Specifically, we collect:

One (1) face photograph per user (JPEG format)
Captured via device camera with your explicit action (tap to capture)
Standard 2D photograph, not 3D face mapping or biometric scan

We do NOT collect:

TrueDepth camera data
Face ID / biometric authentication data
Facial geometry or mesh data
Facial recognition templates for identification purposes

Use of Face Data

Your face photograph is used exclusively for our “Future Visualization” feature. This feature uses artificial intelligence to generate artistic images showing what a potential future together with a match might look like.

Technical process:

Your face photo is uploaded to secure cloud storage
When viewing a potential match, both users’ photos are processed by AI image generation services
The AI extracts facial features and creates artistic visualizations
The generated image is displayed to you

Important clarifications:

Face photos are NEVER used for facial recognition or user identification
Face photos are NEVER used for authentication purposes
Face photos are NEVER used for advertising or marketing purposes
The feature is entirely opt-in and provides entertainment value

Third-Party Services and Storage

Your face photograph may be processed by the following third-party services:

Firebase Storage (Google):

Purpose: Securely stores your face photograph
Storage location: Google Cloud Platform, US data centers
Security: Data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+)
Access: Restricted to your authenticated account only

We do NOT share your face photograph with:

Advertising networks
Data brokers
Social media platforms (except when you choose to share generated images)
Any third parties for their own purposes

Data Retention and Deletion

Your face photograph is retained for as long as your account is active. You have full control over your data:

Active accounts: Your face photo is retained until you delete it or delete your account
Account deletion: When you delete your account, your face photograph is permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours
Updates: You can update or replace your face photo at any time in Profile Settings

When you delete your account (Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account), all face data is permanently removed from Storage. This deletion is irreversible.

Your Rights Regarding Face Data

You have the right to:

Access your face photograph data
Request deletion of your face photograph
Export your data (including face photograph)
Update or replace your face photo at any time
Withdraw consent by deleting your account

3. How We Use Your Information

Our main goal is to help you build meaningful connections. To do that, we use your information to:

Create and manage your account and provide our Services to you.
Show your profile to other users and recommend other users to you.
Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
Ensure the safety and security of our users by preventing fraud and other illegal or unauthorized activities.
Comply with legal requirements and enforce our rights.

To Power Our AI-Driven Features

A core part of our Service involves using data to power our unique features:

For Offspring Predictions: We process your photographs using our proprietary AI to analyze facial features and generate hypothetical images.
For Personality Matching: We analyze your responses to our questionnaires to provide you with compatibility scores and insights with other users.
For Service Improvement (R&D): We use data, including photos and interaction patterns, to train, test, and improve our matching algorithms and AI features. Where possible, we use de-identified or aggregated data for this purpose, taking reasonable steps to ensure it is disassociated from your personal account.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share your information only in the following circumstances:

With Other Users: You share information with other users when you voluntarily disclose information on the service (your public profile). Please be careful with your information and make sure that the content you share is something you’re comfortable being public.
With Our Service Providers: We use trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us, such as hosting our servers (e.g., Amazon Web Services), processing payments, and providing analytics. They are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
For Corporate Transactions: We may transfer your information if we are involved, whether in whole or in part, in a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, or bankruptcy.
When Required by Law: We may disclose your information if reasonably necessary: (i) to comply with a legal process, such as a court order or subpoena; (ii) to assist in the prevention or detection of crime; or (iii) to protect the safety of any person.

5. Your Rights and Choices

We want you to be in control of your information. You have the following rights:

Access & Portability: You can request a copy of the information we hold about you through a tool in the app or by contacting us.
Correction (Rectification): You can edit most of your profile information directly in the app.
Deletion (Erasure): You can delete your account at any time using the functionality in the app. When you delete your account, your profile is no longer visible, and we delete your information from our production systems in accordance with our retention policy.
Object to or Restrict Processing: You have the right to object to us processing your data for certain purposes (like direct marketing) or ask us to restrict its processing.

For Residents of the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. You may also contact our appointed EU Representative at susie.eu.representative@privacyservices.com.

For Residents of California

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request information about the categories of personal information we collect and share. Under the CCPA/CPRA, you also have the right to opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. As stated above, we do not sell your data. 6. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for legitimate business purposes (as laid out in Section 3) and as permitted by applicable law. When you delete your account, we follow a strict deletion protocol. We may retain certain de-identified data for the sole and limited purpose of research and improving our AI models, as described in our Terms of Use.

7. Data Security

We work hard to protect you from unauthorized access to or alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information. We use a combination of technical, administrative, and physical controls to maintain the security of your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are restricted to individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not permit individuals under the age of 18 on our platform. If you suspect that a user is under the age of 18, please use the reporting mechanism available through the service.

9. International Data Transfers

Susie is a global service. We may transfer and process your data in countries outside of where you live, including the United States. We use legally-provided mechanisms to lawfully transfer data across borders, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to ensure your data is afforded a similar level of protection.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
